Synopsis

Lesvos, 1997, Gulf of Geras. A father waits at the port, smoking, to pick up his two children. Across the shore, their mother helps them board a small ship. When the children arrive, they are older than when they departed. They greet their father and enter the car, heading to an olive grove. Three tall poplars stand there, symbols of the three heroes. The children begin working the land. Whenever the father smokes or grows angry, the trees and children grow rapidly. He realizes time has passed unnaturally, shocked by their growth. Lost between memory and reality, he falls into a golden crater opened by the trees and becomes one with the great poplar. Years later, the sons return, climb the tree, and its leaves embrace them.
