Marker, Scanner, and Receipts

Marker, Scanner, and Receipts is a meditation on art, survival, and the absurdity of creation within a capitalist framework. Filmed during an artist residency in Enschede, the Netherlands, the video unfolds through a diaristic narration, tracing the artist’s process of making work with the only tools available— a green marker, a scanner, and thousands of discarded receipts. As the artist scans each receipt one by one, questions arise: What is the value of art when stripped of institutional validation? How does one sustain creativity when resources are scarce? In a space defined by limitations, the act of making becomes an existential inquiry, balancing between necessity and futility.
