Synopsis

This work presents a contemporary reinterpretation of two early dance films by pioneering filmmaker Alice Guy-Blaché, Danse Serpentine (1897) and Danse Excentrique (1902), using modern technologies and audiovisual tools. It explores the cyclical transformation between potential and kinetic energy as a metaphor for the human life journey—marked by struggle, perseverance, and fleeting moments of relief. The project is also a tribute to Guy-Blaché, whose groundbreaking contributions to cinema were long undervalued. Deeply moved by both her work and her historical erasure, the artist reexamines these dances with respect, bringing them into dialogue with contemporary artistic practice.
