Aka 赤 (Red) Aka 赤

Aka 赤 ("Red" in Japanese) is a handmade cameraless film exploring materiality, time, and a dream-like space. It was made by direct animation on 16mm film, with a soundtrack composed from recordings made on Japanese shinkansen "bullet trains." The intention is to use cinematic space to evoke a sense of passage through memory, emotion, sensation, or the imagination - an experience personal to each viewer, but shared communally.
